“I don’t have a mom.”

Yesterday, I heard what could possible be the saddest sentence ever uttered. My kids were outside paying with a little boy we were doing respite for. One of the kids commented they were going to tell his mom if he didn’t stop whatever he was doing. His response, “I don’t have a mom.”
